The WordPress photo challenge from Lines to Patterns reminded me of the one free thing in Helsinki I should have on this blog the Temppeliaukio Church aka the Rock Church (and look at the roof to see why the challenge reminded me of the church). The pictures are a couple of years old, I don’t frequent the place that often. The church offers a bit of variation to the architecture: it is actually dug into the rock in the centre of Helsinki. If you want to visit it, you may want to call (09) 2340 5940 and listen to the message to find out when it is open – if there is a ceremony going on, it will be closed for visitors. You’ll find the church at Lutherinkatu 3.
If you are into beautiful churches you may also want to take a look at the main Cathedral and Uspenski Cathedral in Helsinki.
