You know the old song starting “there’s an old Australian stockman, lying, dying…”? It actually gets pretty entertaining when your kids sing it out loud in the bus and before the refrain shout loud “all together now”. First some adorable teenage boys join them to “tie me kangaroo down, mate, tie me kangaroo down” until most of the bus at least claps to it. Best bus ride ever.
What song is this? I don’t think I have ever heard it.
Also I love surreal moments like these that will forever be ingrained in memory, and the fact that blogging will help us remember them. 🙂
Apparently some Aussie hit in the 60’s??? My mum new it 😀
I will just have to check it out!
🙂 This must have been funny 🙂 and fun. I am glad the teenagers reacted this way 🙂
I had to tell them that they sure made the day for all of us!
LOL! First off that song – that song sounds like it is a hoot! And second, what a great surprise that the most unlikely participates were the first to join in! Love it!
Yeah, a real kids song: I was happy the kids didn’t remember the words to the last verse “…and they skinned his hide when he died… and that’s it hanging on the shed”. Not quite sure where we got that from, apparently it was big in the 60’s. But our kids love it. And so does a bus full of people now too. Lol.
Taking notes here. Compiling the bus singalong playlist 🙂 .
Adorable you got a “surly” teenager joining in. Just goes to show – you can’t stereotype too much!
3 teenage boys!!! And by the first look ‘surly’ was how I would have described them. But everybody can surprise!
