The huge gymnastics event Gymnaestrada was held last week in Helsinki. The good thing with these events is that mostly they provide something for everyone, even those who don’t pay for the main shows. Gymnaestrada offered a lot: they gave free gymnastics shows in at least three places in Helsinki for several hours, they gave free gymnastics lessons several times during the week and in Kisakallio in Töölö children were allowed to try themselves what can be done.
As my kids got a cold as soon as we came home from our road trip in the north, I didn’t want them to get excited with too much but on a sunny afternoon we went to Senate Square by the main church to look at the shows.
Putting a stage up on the Senate Square was genius as the stairs to the main church was great for the audience. And there was loads of people watchng. We all sat in awe and watched these skilled people. Guess what my daughter now wants do?
