We’ve had beautiful crispy but sunny autumn days lately, and enjoyed exploring the outdoors on the weekends. So simple, just take a picnic along, and so refreshing to have time to just be or eg build a house or a bridge cross a puddle or climb a rock… There are several lovely nature places in Helsinki were it’s easy to go (in addition to the typical Seurasaari and Suomenlinna and other islands). Here are a few ideas, some in the woods, some in gardens and parks:
- Family trail in Tali
- Rhohodendron Park in Haaga especially in June
- Art Park in Huopalahti
- Taivaskallio in Käpylä
- Follow the Vantaa river
- The Central Park with several marked and unmarked trails
- Tervasaari by Kruununhaka
- Töölö Bay – easy and close to the centre but not a huge amount of nature there
- Kaisaniemi Botanical Gardens – free on the grounds, indoors will cost some
- Winter Gardens
- Pyysaari by Laajasalo
- Uutela and Kallahti by Vuosaari
- Vanhan kaupungin koski
- Nuuksio nature park, Espoo
- Villa Elfvik, Espoo
- Marketta Park, Espoo
