We went today to sing the most beautiful Christmas carols in the beautiful old church in Oulunkylä, as did many others. Our kids love it!
Since we are normally no church goers, this is also an opportunity to show them a bit of history as well. After all, the Protestant church has been the basis for most things in our society. The lack of habit amused me today though, when the preast stood up to say a few words and my daughter wondered why only he gets to talk. Pretty unfair… No need to think these singing opportunities would be overly religious though, just a short 3 minute thought from the Bible and a prayer. Naturally you have the opportunity to donate as well.
Anyway, if you want to have a warm Christmas atmosphere singing together, you can find when and where in Finland they are sung here.

Singing is such a beautiful gift 🙂
True! Lucky even us less talented can enjoy others singing beautifully 🙂
Haha. We go to church at least 2 times a month and still Z doesnt understand why she has to be quiet. To be fair, its more of a Bible study and we can all interject with our thoughts and feelings on the passage. She just wants to talk more about her puppy or friends that’s all. We are lucky that everyone there loves her and has kids so they are understanding and even welcoming to her chats. 🙂
Lol, lovely Z, all about the important themes in life 😀 sounds like a warm atmosphere in your bible study group though!
It is 😉
Your daughter and I would get along great! 🙂
I have no doubt of that!
I was in the vicinity of a church this week too. Christmas, eh? 😉
Glühwein creates wonders 🙂
It’s amazing where it can make me go haha!
I once stayed in Oulunkyla for a month, I love Finland!
Really? Lovely to hear! 🙂
