Kids Packing

Going to Greece my kids wanted to pack themselves. I wanted them to have something more in the suitcase than cars, so I took Bronwyns about 1-year old advice on packing instructions for illiterate children.

packapacka1First we checked how many days and nights we’d be away and talked through how often we change underwear and t-shirts. (yes, my husband made me aware of the many socks for a week spent by pool but coming from the north I can’t help but be prepared for the weather turning cold…)

Then they pulled out as many items as I had drawn up, the older one even looked at which clothes match. Some illustrations seem to have needed improvements… this really worked quite well and I only used my veto right in small adjustments.

Maybe the days were I am up packing still at midnight are soon over?!

  1. Mr. T is 17 and the other day he goes “Mom, I really don’t need help packing!” But must have seen the look on my face and amended “but we can go over it together after I’m done”
    Yeah, okay. LOL

  2. I loved this idea then and am so glad you reminded me of it. We are headed on some travels this year and am totally going to do this with Z!

    1. It was a great way to get kids excited by going too!
